Ossoli Circle members continue to remember and honor suffrage movement.

Wreath Laying Ceremony in honor of the 19th Amendment Centennial 

The Knox County Council of Regents (Daughters of the American Revolution – DAR) invited Ossoli Circle’s President and Past President to a Wreath Laying Ceremony in honor of the 19th Amendment Centennial on August 22, 2020. The ceremony took place at Lizzie Crozier French’s grave site at Old Gray Cemetery in Knoxville.   The program honored Mary Boyce Temple, Lizzie Crozier French, and Annie Logan Boyd all buried at Old Gray.  President Taylor was asked to participate in the program. 

Ossoli Circle represented in the Knoxville Suffrage Parade

President Wanda Taylor and past president Janie Bitner were in the August 22nd, Suffragist Coalition car Parade. The parade began in the Old City. Approximately 30 cars were in the parade along with a vintage model T and a motorcycle. Cars were decorated with flags, banners, streamers, balloons and posters.  The parade traveled down Gay Street, turned to go past the Farmer’s Market at the Coliseum. Then retraced back to the Old City, Back to Gay Street and on to Cumberland Avenue. Many people cheered us on as we motorcaded down the streets.
