President’s Project – ETCH Pain and Palliative Care Unit

President Overman has selected the Pain and Palliative Care Unit at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital for the President’s Project this year.  This is a finished blanket.  They are so cuddly!

Ossoli members are committed to making 50 “snuggle and hugs” comfort blankets. The blankets will be placed in a bag along with items (socks, activity books, fidget toys, crayons and markers, etc.)  to comfort the children while in the hospital.

Members are meeting at the Ossoli Club house from Noon – 2:00 pm daily to make the blankets.  Ladies, we still need more workers and help to complete our goal.  Bags to place the blanket in have been ordered.  We still need more items to place in the bags for patients.  The focus of the project is for ages 6 to 17.  We especially need more items for the older students.

Consider coming to the clubhouse and selecting a blanket you would like to build a theme around.  For example, if you choose a fire truck blanket then you can look for stickers, coloring books, books, t-shirts. Etc. related to firemen and their job.

A portion of the proceeds from the Mardis Gras Carnivale on February 28 will be used to help fund this project.  We still need monetary donations and in-kind gifts for the bags.
