GFWC Ossoli Circle Donates to Dogwood Elementary School

Each year the GFWC Ossoli Circle Board develops a list of designated  community projects their club members will support for service hours.  The Ossoli in Action Committee (OiA) seeks out needs in the community and develops a plan to help  meet the needs of the projects of the chosen program/organization.   The Dogwood Elementary School Ambassador Program was selected by the committee.

The OiA Committee chose to support Dogwood Elementary 2022 with a donation of $2400.  This will enable the school to extend the Ambassador Program to the 2nd and 3rd grade this coming year. Students apply and interview to participate in the Ambassador Program.  They attend weekly after school classes learning leadership and other skills.  They practice these skills by leading school tours, volunteering in the school and competing in the Dogwood Great Shake.  The Great Shake puts the ambassadors’ leadership skills to the test.  They go through real world situations where their communications skills and ability to think under pressure are put to the test.  They give a planned and an impromptu speech, have challenging conversations with local business professionals, show they can tie a tie, set a table, walk the red carpet, and much more.  This program promotes skills that develop citizens and leaders for tomorrow.

OiA funds are raised through Ossoli members support of Honey Baked Ham, Kroger Rewards, and Amazon Smile.  Funds were also raised at the February Mardi Gras event for this donation and to support the President’s Project, ETCH. Our February fundraiser this coming February will be a BINGO party! We will raise $$ for President Christmas’s Project, Alzheimers’ Association and the OiA Project for 2023!  Who likes to play Bingo?  EVERYONE!!
