Birds of prey are amazing creatures, and the Owl Ridge Raptor Center provides a safe place for sick or injured birds to be rehabilitated and then released back into the wild. Raptors benefit humans by keeping pests under control, keeping animal populations healthy, warning us about toxins in our environment, and giving us something absolutely beautiful to watch. The Owl Ridge Raptor Center brought their “ambassadors” to the clubhouse on November 4 to the delight of the members. Their ambassadors are non-releasable raptors that inspire, educate and motivate individuals to take action to help the species survive and thrive. As each one was brought out of their cage the whole GFWC Ossoli Circle auditorium was in awe of their beauty and intrigued by the information presented by their caretakers. The Center cares for as many as 35 wounded or sick birds a day which includes working with UT Veterinary College to address casualties like broken wings or legs. They are a 501C3 nonprofit and do not receive any funds accept through donations.
