The members of GFWC Ossoli Circle enjoyed a special Veterans Day program featuring an all-female Color Guard from Oak Ridge High School. The cadets, members of the school’s Junior ROTC program under the direction of Chief Troy, presented the colors for the Pledge of Allegiance.
GFWC Ossoli Circle member and Desert Storm veteran Renee Hamilton introduced the Color Guard. Each cadet shared what being part of the Color Guard means to them and their future plans after graduation. Members were touched by the poise and spirit of these outstanding young women.
Adding to the excitement, Ossoli member Cindy Weiger was surprised and proud to discover her niece among the cadets.
To close the program, Renee presented each Ossoli member with a Veterans Day Challenge Coin and encouraged everyone to pass it on to a veteran in honor of their service.
