GFWC Ossoli Circle Participates in Day of Service.
GFWC International Day of Service 2025
In recognition of the 2025 GFWC International Day of Service, Ossoli Circle joined clubs across the nation to support the GFWC Signature Program, which focuses on increasing awareness of and helping to prevent the widespread occurrence of domestic and sexual violence in our communities.
As part of the GFWC of Tennessee Day of Service Project, Ossoli Circle members donated 24 bras, which were included in 20 bags containing bras, panties, and socks for local distribution. The club selected Serenity House Ministries as the recipient for our local Day of Service. Serenity House is a residential recovery program supporting women seeking restoration from addiction, domestic violence, or homelessness. On Monday, September 29, 2025, the collection day for needed items for Serenity House, Tennessee Senator Becky Massey was present to read and present a proclamation to end Domestic and Sexual Violence. She also referenced ways the legislators were addressing Domestic Violence as well as human trafficking.
The following week, Cynthia Russell, Vice President for Serenity Ministries gave an account of how Serenity House worked with their residents to help them develop skills to return to society as valuable community members. Ossoli members showered her with the items needed for the home.
Along with the 20 filled bags, members provided over 100 full-size toiletry items to help stock the Serenity House shelves. Leda Behseresht led the effort allowing GFWC Ossoli Circle to be a guiding light helping meet the needs of women in crisis and to support programs that promote safety, dignity, and healing within our community.
